OOTD: Sweet Summer Day Dress

So today I really liked my outfit, so I thought I would share it here!  It’s a very simple outfit, but I think it packs a punch!  It’s perfect for a hot summer day because of the breezy cut of the dress and simple sandals.  Each item will be linked, and if I can’t find the exact item I will find a similar piece.

The look:

The dress is from LOFT, but I bought it last year, so I don’t think it’s available anymore.  It’s very comfortable and a great length for anyone, so if you can find anything similar, I would recommend getting one! (Similar: http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?br=F21&category=21items_clothing_04dresses&productid=2000077053) I bought the mustard cardigan at Bealls sooo many years ago, and I have worn it sooo many times.  It’s a perfect 3/4 length sleeve and simple design, but the bold color makes it a very versatile piece.  (Similar: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/august-silk-long-sleeve-cardigan?ID=364044&CategoryID=260#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D403%26slotId%3D1%26kws%3Dmustard%20cardigan%20&)

My purse was a birthday gift from my parents, and I love using it for any nicer occasion.  It’s a Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac in Black with Rose Gold hardware.  It’s a perfect size if you just need to take a couple items, and the shoulder strap is the perfect length! (http://www.rebeccaminkoff.com/mini-m-a-c-rose-gold)

This watch is by Michael Kors, and is the Runway Watch in Rose Gold Toned Stainless Steel.  It’s my favorite watch I’ve ever owned because of how substantial it looks and feels, and I think it goes with any outfit.  Michael Kors makes very high quality watches that last forever, so I totally recommend them. These are the two bracelets I wear every single day without fail.  The silver with charm is by Alex and Ani, and has a topaz stone in it, since that’s my birthstone.  The second is a hamsa with topaz-toned stones around it and was made by a family friend. These are my favorite shoes ever, Birkenstocks.  They’re the best sandals with support, and although some don’t think they’re “cute” or “stylish,” I love them and wear them basically every opportunity I get.  Although summer is nearing its end, I urge everyone I know to get a pair! I wear this necklace every single day as a reminder of my family, since I was given it by my aunt and uncle.  Although I don’t know the maker, I will include a similar option here. (http://www.helzberg.com/product/diamond+heart+pendant+1962449.do?sortby=ourPicks)

I also decided to include a close-up of my makeup, which I really liked!  If you want to know what’s on my face just let me know! Hope you enjoyed this post! ❤ Jordanna

Travel Makeup/Super Simple Makeup Look

So since I already did a post on the products I love for a travel-friendly makeup look, I decided to show exactly how I use each product!  This works not only for travel, but for anyone looking to simplify their makeup routine or just someone starting out with makeup.  In case you haven’t seen the afore mentioned post, here’s a link to the post and a picture of each product:

The first step is to start with a clean face

No Makeup

And then I put on the Hourglass Primer and Smashbox Under Eye Primer

and then blend that into my skin with my fingers.

Primer Blended

After primer comes base, for which I used the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral all over my face.

Once I blend that in I put on my under eye concealer, the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch in Radiant,

Undereye Concealer

and then I blend that all in (the face concealer with a brush and the under eye just with my fingers).

Full Face Blended

Once that’s done I move onto the eyes.  I put the Urban Decay Concealer on my lids to cancel out any veins that show through my eyelids.

Eye Concealer Unblended

Then I fill in my eyebrows with the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil in Chocolate.  I don’t do anything crazy, I just shape them up and make them look nice.

After that I throw on some Benefit Roller Lash Mascara on the upper and lower lashes to make my eyes really pop!

To complete the eyes, I add a little bit of BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal to the inner corners to brighten and complete the look.

Inner Corner Highlight:Eyes Done

With the eyes completed, I go back to the face and add some of my NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny along the temples, down my neck, and across my cheekbones to add some life back into my face.

The bronzer adds dimension, but I really like to go all out with giving my face some shape, and I like to use BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal on my cheekbones, nose, chin, cupid’s bow, temples, and center of my forehead (basically everywhere).

To finish the entire look I put on my Dior Addict Lip Glow to give a slight flush to my lips and finish the makeup look.

Full Face Done

Hope you enjoy the makeup look!  If you have suggestions as to what I should do, just let me know in a comment!

Travel Haul Summer 2015

This summer I’ve done some traveling, and of course being in a new place means shopping, right?  While I was away I picked up some stuff that I’m super excited to wear and use, especially for fall! Here they are:

Of course I had to go to Sephora, which I actually did, since I was out of my favorite toner-style product, the First Aid Beauty Blemish Patrol Pads.  These are amazing for anyone with problematic skin like me, because they keep breakouts at bay and ensure that all my makeup is off my face.

Blemish Patrol Pads

I also got BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop, their collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a very beautiful and talented YouTube personality.  This highlighter is everything!  It has a beautiful golden champagne tone to it and makes my skin look dewy without looking like there glitter all over my face.  I love BECCA’s products, and totally recommend that you go and pick up this limited edition highlighter.

As my 100 Point Perk, I received this Urban Decay Seven Days of Shadow box.  It includes a small sample of their Anti-Aging Primer Potion as well, which I gave away since I have tons of these samples in my makeup collection.  The shadows are very nice and you get quite a bit of product in each one.  I love Urban Decay shadows, but had never tried their moondust formula, and there are some of those in this set.  I’ve tried a couple and although they have a lot of fallout, they have a nice duochrome to them and make the eyes look shimmery and kind of glossy (in a good way).Urban Decay Seven Days of Shadow

I also went to Forever 21, which is a store I love, but not every store has a plus size section, and this one did, so I picked up some stuff.

The first thing I got is the Heathered Stripe Sweater, which will be perfect for the fall since it’s a thin material, which is good for layering, but has long sleeves, which are good if it gets warmer.  I actually wore this on my trip home because of these attributes.  It’s really soft and comfortable and I can’t wait to get more use out of it.

Striped Sweater Forever 21

The next item I picked out is this simple Heathered V-Neck Tee in Gray.  This is yet another perfect item for any season and really any look.  It is very soft and not too deep of a v-neck for me personally.  It would go very well with jeans (as pictured) or with a more formal look, like a skirt, and the color lends itself to any color combination.

Gray T-Shirt Forever 21

The final piece I got at Forever 21 is the Butterfly Print Blouse, which is a nicer material, so it can be worn for a casual day or a more formal occasion.  The way the top is pleated makes it universally flattering and makes it great for tucking in or leaving out.

Butterfly Top Forever 21

I also went to Macy’s, where I got only one item, but a great new pair of Madden Girl platforms in the style Daizyy Platform Lug Sandals.  I have been looking for this type of chunky heeled platform shoe, because I can wear them alone in the summer or spring, or with printed socks or tights in the fall, for a different look.  The tall platform makes them very easy to walk in (I’m horrible at walking in heels), and they’re wide enough for my feet to feel comfortable, and not too claustrophobic.  Madden Girl Platform Sandals

I also went to Nordstrom, where I picked up two items, the first being a pair of Hunter Short Gloss Boots in Black.  I’ve never owned a pair of rain boots before, and since I live in a place where it rains and snows quite often, I figured it was a good time to get a pair.  I love the short height of the boots because they fit me perfectly and don’t feel too tight anywhere.

Short Black Hunter Boots

At Nordstrom I also got a pair of Lucky Brand jeans in the style Reese Boyfriend.  Like the platform sandals, I have been on a mission for ripped boyfriend jeans that don’t make me look bigger than I am and that aren’t too long for my petite frame.  These jeans are so comfortable and well made, and the rips aren’t so big that all you see is your legs with some denim around them.  Again, these will pair well with lots of different tops and jackets for tons of occasions.  They can be worn with heeled shoes (as pictured) for a more formal look, or with flats or sneakers for a super casual and cool look.Screen Shot 2015-07-27 at 3.20.33 PM

Travel Beauty Essentials

Now I know not everyone likes to make themselves up to travel, myself included, but sometimes you just want to throw on a little bit of makeup before travelling. I mean, you never know who you’ll meet…right? Maybe you’re going somewhere important right after getting off your flight and want to look fresh and made up. Well, when I want to look put together for travel, I only use these few products:

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is easily my favorite primer of all time, and although it’s pretty costly, it makes a big difference. For me, it evens out everything on my face and gives a nice smooth surface for me to put the rest of my makeup on.

Hourglass Primer

Smashbox Hydrating Under Eye Primer is perfect for everyday, and especially for travel, since my skin gets pretty dried out on planes. I love the lotion-like consistency of this primer really helps concealer adhere to the under eye area and look smooth and pretty.

Smashbox Under Eye Primer

Urban Decay Naked Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral instead of a foundation. It’s still full coverage, but a smaller package and less heavy feeling. I also use this all over my eyelids to cover up the veins and make the look seem cleaner than it really is.

Naked Concealer

Maybeline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer in the color Radiant to really brighten my under eyes. The pinkish tone counteracts the blue-ish tones under my eyes.

Maybelline Concealer Dream Lumi Touch

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny to bring some life back to my face. The slight hint of bronzer really does a lot. If you don’t like bronzer, you could use a blush instead, but usually I opt for bronzer.

NYC Bronzer Sunny

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal to highlight the face and inner corners. This, like the bronzer, adds life to the face, and gives dimension. It’s also what gives that dewy natural look that I like.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Pressed

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Chocolate to fill in the brows lightly. I simply fill in the sparse areas and don’t overdraw or sharpen them at all for a more natural look.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara to make my lashes pop and add volume and length. I love this mascara for any occasion, and for this look it really helps polish the face.

Benefit Roller Lash

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm is a must because flying dries my lips out completely. Without this, my lips would literally look like the Sahara desert, so even if I don’t wear makeup I have to bring lip balm.

Burt's Bees Chapstick

Dior Addict Lip Glow is the easiest way to give color to the lips without having to use a mirror, which I almost never have on hand, especially when travelling. I also love the moisture this product brings to my lips while still giving a nice light pink color.
